I genuinely find this one sequence more entertaining than the entirety of Abrams’ two films. I realise that most of that likely has to do with the fact that, at heart, I’m a grumpy old Trekkie* who refuses to move with the times, but still! It’s quality entertainment.
(TNG’s my favourite, though. Picard>Kirk any day.)

Star Trek III: better or worse than Miata III?

Better, but then, I don’t think I’ll ever be over them taking the pop-up headlights away. I know, regulations, pedestrian safety... They still don’t go up and down any more, and that makes me sad.

Just don’t get me started on Star Trek V...

Oh, fuck no, Star Trek V can burn in the fires of awful awful terribleness. It’s possibly the worst thing to ever come out of Star Trek, and I’m including the absolute dodgiest Voyager and Enterprise episodes in that.

Not enough explosions or lasers, and everyone is too old!

They’re my generation too, and yup, they’re all terrible.

I like Star Trek I.

I’m tempted to argue that Christopher Plummer is a more interesting Klingon than Christopher Lloyd, but I have to give III its props for debuting the properly formed Klingon language. Lloyd is very good at suspiciousness and bluster, but he doesn’t really come off as a warrior, as such. One point of minor mis-cast doesn’t make it a bad film, though. I think it’s benefitted by having less pretense than The Motion Picture and more limits on its ham than IV, though less endearing.

I actually liked the Abrams Star Trek films.
Oddly enough, even though I consider my self a Trek fan, I’ve never watched Star Trek III
all the way through. Probably my favorite of the original films is Star Trek IV, which most people think is awful, but I really enjoyed.
And yes, TNG was the best. Followed closely by Enterprise I think.

I wish I did. Both are well-made sci-fi action/adventure films - seriously, if they weren’t supposed to be Star Trek, I’d probably love them - but neither had anything that I want out of Star Trek.
Most people love IV, dude! The Voyage Home is probably in my top 3 Star Trek films, and that’s far from a controversial opinion.
My second favourite series is probably DS9, then TOS, then Enterprise - almost entirely because I thought series 4 was really well-done - and then Voyager.

Wait, people think IV is terrible? Ridiculous, yes, but very well loved. In fact, it cemented the odds and evens rule among Trek fans: every other movie is more worth it, see I,III,V, Generations vs. II, IV, VI. Some people take that pattern out even further.

Oh, I loved Plumber as Chang in VI.

So do I. Make no mistake, I actually agree with almost all the most common criticisms, but I’ll nonetheless happily sit through the whole thing. The Enterprise spacedock sequence is a particular highlight.

Years ago I swore that was the case and that IV was the bastard child of the series. Damned if I can't remember where I read it though.

You can just hear the HUEHUEHUEHUE glee in his lines. “Tickle us, do we not laugh? Prick us, do we not bleed? Wrong us, shall we not revenge?”

I found III pretty boring. That said I was the worst and V is my favorite. And for the record Cisco>Everyone else.

Star Trek movies, ranked, very unscientifically:
II: The Wrath of Khan
First Contact
J.J. Trek 1
VI: The Undiscovered Country
The Motion Picture Director’s Edition
III: The Search For Spock
Nemesis
IV: The Voyage Home
J.J. Trek 2: Into Dumbness
Insurrection
Generations
V: The Final Frontier

“CRY HAVOK” *spins on chair* “AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR!”
Sulu’s, “Fly her apart then!” is great, too.
The editing in the original sequence is a little less choppy, but I suppose the uploader had to make do.

So, where does John Larroquette fall into the Klingon-actor heirarchy?

For me it’d be:
1. First Contact. (“There’s another starship coming in... It’s the Enterprise!”)
2. Khan
3. Voyage Home
4. Undiscovered Country
5. Spock
6. Motion Picture
7. Insurrection
8. Generations
9. JJ Trek I
10. Nemesis
11. JJ Trek II
12. Final Frontier

My favourite captains in order are as follows:
1.) Kirk
2.) Janeway
3.) Sisko
4.) Archer
5.) Picard
If anything Picard should have lost command of the Enterprise the moment he surrendered it. I don’t think any captains career should survive surrendering the god damn flag ship of the fleet.

My absolute firmest disagreement.
Picard
Kirk
Sisko
Janeway
Archer

Might well be my favourite episode of DS9, and I love a lot of DS9.

If someone described the episode to you you’d think “Nope. That’ll ever work, no way no how” but it was just so masterfully and seamlessly edited that it does.
Voyager had a few bright moments as well. The “Year of Hell” two-parter definitely stands out in my mind.
